SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
For the 2024-2025 season, Keller High School's Varsity Bass Team saw strong performances in THSBA tournaments. Several teams placed in top spots and big bass catches, with anglers earning recognition and big bass awards for the season. Two teams earned spots and did well at State.
Key Highlights for KVBT in 2024-2025:
- Tournament Success: Teams placed well in various events, with some finishing in the top 30.
- Big Bass Recognition: Anglers had significant catches, with some qualifying for the ShareLunker program and receiving replicas and banquet recognition from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).

Tournament Recap
The first tournament of the 2024-2025 THBSA Season for the Keller Varsity Bass Team (KVBT) kicked off on September 14 at Lake Ray Roberts. KVBT fielded 16 teams in the MetroPlex Division with 9 teams fishing in their very first tournament. In total, 142 angler teams representing 24 organizations participated in the tournament and 152 fish brought to the scales; 76 teams (50%) turned in a fish! Overall, KVBT finished 7th with the following 5 teams taking the stage at weigh in:
- Robertson/Adams – 27th place - 5.33 lbs.
- Grubbs/Druyvestyn – 28th place - 5.29lbs.
- Holdridge/Drilling – 31st place - 4.91 lbs.
- Dekok – 44th place - 3.18 lbs. (team Big Bass)
- Petronella – 69th place - 2.08 lbs.
Weather for the first tournament cooperated with light and variable winds from the southeast and the water temperature was in the low 80s. Partial cloud cover help keep the temperature at bay until during most of the morning until sunny skies and hot temperatures prevailed in the afternoon. Teams reported catching several “shorts” (bass under the 14” requirement). No real pattern seemed to exist as anglers caught fish using a variety of different baits in many different areas of the lake.
